YARD SALE
(Saturday 21 November 2009 by Carl A. Patton)
Many things became lost in the game
called life. We regret that also many souls wandered and were without direction
as they thought that there was a home on earth. Peace raged in the hearts of
the righteous while things that are not quiet came upon the foolish and unwise.
However the free gift would come later.
It
was a shame to some people that the
exiled
philosophers had to rake and
scrape
for the basics of life as most of
the
hiring places had closed long ago.
There
was a list blackened as sure as fish
fried
or baked. There was one rope that
ended
all life on this side while another
tried
to annul your economic resources.
Seeking
and embracing solitude the thinkers
and
philosophers the sages still had to eat
and
sleep. Big Jim, he liked to carry on,
would
say there was a flat-foot hustler.
Mellow
now in age and blessed with a place
called
home I saw John. Thinking John
set
many things out on a lawn. Yard sale.
He
ate he slept and he had peace.
Peace
and Paradise,
