ARE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS/ORNAMENTS
GODLY?
(THE CHRISTMAS TREE)
Part 9: Firm In The Faith: But Can
Man Make Christian Holidays
(II Thessalonians 2: 15)
Greetings Brethren,
Peace be unto you. We
are blessed to know Almighty God thus we are thankful. We are thankful also for
Christ Jesus our Savior and for the Holy Spirit.
What kind of power
does man have? If man makes laws and establishes traditions and customs that do
not conflict with God’s laws is this acceptable?
Peace and Love, Carl
Patton a willing servant of Almighty God writing for the FreedomJournal

In the name of God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth.
In Paul’s second
Epistle to the Thessalonians in the second Chapter beginning with verses 13- 17
Paul teaches about faith. However our primary verse is 15.
II Thessalonians 2:
15: “Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have
been taught, whether by word or our epistle.
In order to rebuke
and not be tricked by the Romish system Paul tells the brethren to stand fast
and firm in their belief in the Gospel. Traditions again is defined as a giving
over which is done by word of mouth or in writing.
A doctrine or rule
becomes a tradition when it has been given over from one person to another. The
negative or positive equality of the tradition depends upon the person or
persons handing over the doctrine. Therefore the traditions Paul recommends to
the Thessalonians are of authority. This authority is noted in his oral (word
of mouth) preaching and by his writings (epistle). Also Paul as an inspired
writer of the New Testament was sent to reveal the scriptures and not
contradict God’s laws.
In the last chapter
of I Corinthians (verse 13) Paul notes an additional scripture that relates to
our discussion.
I Corinthians 16:13:
“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”
Paul teaches the
Brethren to watch and be alert for challenges to the faith. Also one had to be brave
to withstand the attacks from those who wished to trample on the Gospel.
So Brethren what have
we concluded here? Have we clearly noted that Christmas as a time to celebrate
the birth of Christ has no scriptural source? Therefore can we make a holiday
and call it holy although most of the world uses it as a way to gross economic
profits?
What is the role of
believers in the distortion of scripture and celebrating Christmas? How does
tradition impact on these believers? For example many believers follow
tradition that leans to graven images as they fashion/design scenes with images
denoting the birth of Christ with the traditional Nativity scenes.
How can you take out
the good from the bad? What is good and what is bad? Is the determination of
things bad revealed in what the Bible says? Will the believers then follow the
Bible first and then tradition? What is in the heart of those who display and
decorate trees at the season called Christmas? Is the heart were we find the
answers to these questions? Do you lift Christ up in prayer and in testimony
daily?
