A NOTE ON THE CHURCH AT PHILADELPHIA
Greetings Brethren,
Peace be unto you.
Rest assured that there are great blessings for those that stay with God. John
stayed in the Spirit. This was righteous.
Peace and Paradise,
Carl Patton FreedomJournal
1 December 2005 in the year of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus
The question has been
raised; “Why did the Lord favor the Church at Philadelphia in regard to trials,
tribulations etc.? Also what can be gained (the Church today) from the obedience
of the Church at Philadelphia?
Meanwhile we see the
Apostle John exiled on the island of Patmos. Here he saw a vision inspired by
Almighty God and revealed to him by Christ Jesus the Savior of all the world.
The Revelation as
noted in the Bible is a book of hope. The Word reveals that John was a
contemporary of Christ Jesus. John as a beloved Apostle and eyewitness to
Christ proclaims that the Lord will return to the earth to take up the
righteous and judge the wicked and lost. Revelation also renders a warning.
These established Churches in question here are having problems. However Christ
warns them to stay in righteousness.
God has not revealed
any elaborate are distinct road map toward obedience except what is known to
all believers. Love God, love thyself as thy neighbor. Therefore keep God first
and stay in prayer. Thus God will keep His mighty hand of protection on you. So
all (the 7 churches) that stayed with God were protected.
For the record these
seven letters were written to seven distinct Churches however the messages to
each Church are for the Church today.
Revelation 3: 7 “And
to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is
holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man
shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth.”
The Church at
Philadelphia like the church at Smyrna did not receive a rebuke. Holy and true
is noted in all true servants of God. Christ was/is the greatest ancestor of
David. Key of David refers to the authority predicted for Christ. (Related
scripture Matthew 16: 19).
What does God reveal
to us regarding this Church and all the seven Churches? What of persecution?
What about the false teachers? Are these letters a guide toward understanding
many of the problems in the Church today? Is God telling us to forever stay
with Him because many will come to the Church from places of Satan?
Peace,
Brother Carl
