Greetings Brethren,

Man has come in various manners spreading confusion and dissension. However, all know Right from Wrong. Even the blind can see. One cannot blame Satan for everything including lack of knowledge of the Creator. Nor can the Black man blame the White man for all manners of economic and mental degradation.

You cannot see God if don't embrace Love.

FREEDOMJOURNAL SAYS THAT YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING OF REALITY IF YOU DON'T SEE GOD. HOWEVER, ALL CAN SEE GOD IF THEY DESIRE.

Peace and Love,

Carl Patton writing for the FreedomJournal May 4, 2002 in the year of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

FREEDOMJOURNAL SPEAKS

THE ORIGIN & REALITY OF THE PASSOVER

PART 9: HEBREW/CHRISTIANS & PASSOVER OR HEBREW/JUDAISM & PASSOVER

In the name of Jehovah God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth.

In verse 14 of Exodus 12 we have previously seen a passage of scripture that reflects on the memorial of the Passover. However the Word of God turns to this subject once more in verses 24-28. But this time we will reflect more on the meaning of these passages for Christians today. As a preface to our statements we note that all that practice Judaism should be followers of Christ and not the Law. Thus the Hebrew nation should embrace Christianity and not Judaism. This factor impacted greatly on how and who celebrate the Passover. But first the scripture.

Exodus 12:24. "And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever."

12:25. "And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the Lord will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service."

12:28. "And the children of Israel went away, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they."

Here we see the word telling the Hebrew people that the events of the Passover should always be remembered. The word forever is once again noted. In this instance we will hold to its literal meaning. However we again note that Judaism was not to remain as a religion. Judaism was ordained by God to extend, and make a transition to Christianity and the acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Savior.

This we do know. With this factor (realization of Christ as the head of the church) embraced the Passover celebration is placed in different perspective. For example all people that celebrate the Passover should hold to the priority of the risen Savior.

Furthermore the rituals and ceremonial laws of Old Testament times are no longer with us. We now abide y the New Covenant Law of Jesus Christ. Thus, Jesus Christ has removed the need to slaughter an animal as a sacrifice. Thus, the blood, bitter herbs and meat of Old Testament Passover are now seen in Jesus Christ.

Hence we as Christians celebrate the resurrection. However we should be well aware of the events surrounding the origin of the Passover and how these events impacted on the events of the crucifixion and resurrection. So the memory of the Passover should be among Christians and not those who claim to practice Judaism.

There are also further revelations revealed in this chapter. What are the mixed multitudes noted in verse 38? Also, how has the mixed multitude impacted on the Hebrew nation over time?

Exodus 12:38. "And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flock, and herds, even much cattle."

The text here noted that in addition to the Hebrew people a mixed multitude joined along with them. Therefore the Exodus was not comprised solely of the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but various other races as well. Egyptian historians although lax on the details of the time of the Exodus do record that many different people took refuge in Egypt during times of famine etc.

Meanwhile it is revealed that although these non Hebrews sought to escape from Egypt they continued to hold on to idols and were not committed to God. The ungodly behavior of these people is reflected in the following scripture.

Numbers 11:4-6.

"And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a-lusting:; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, who shall give us flesh to eat."

Troubles are discontent among the people was basically caused by the mixed multitude often described as a mongrel race. It is also noted that church membership is usually composed of people that do not know God. These people are not converted, thus when trails come upon them are the church they breed dissension and trouble. (Also see Acts 7:39).

In Nehemiah 13;3 we see additional scripture regarding the mixed multitude. Here we see the Hebrew people separating themselves from a group of camp followers described as a mixed multitude. This occurred in the revival afer the return with Ezra and Nehemiah.

Nehemiah 13:3. "Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude." (Also see Nehemiah 9:2 and 10:28).

Finally for your thought and mediation we will turn to the Old Testament Book of Zechariah 8:20-23. As we take an account of these passages of scripture, we ask that you reflect on several concerns. Is there a mixed multitude among the people that profess Judaism today? Is there still a mixed multitude among those that have embraced Christianity? How do you think that mixed multitude impacted are caused the on-going disobedience among the Hebrew people? In conclusion is the mixed multitude related to the Gentiles and the church with Christ as the head?

Zechariah 8: 20-23

8:20. "Thus saith the Lord of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities."

8:23. "Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, he will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you."

Here we see the prediction of the coming Christ and the setting up of the church in Jerusalem. (Also see Isaiah 2:1-4, Micah 4: 1-5). The fulfillment is noted in the Book of Acts (2nd Chapter). This is also the kingdom seen by the Prophet Daniel in Daniel 2: 44.
