THE
MEANING OF CHRISTMAS
(25
December 2008)
Greetings Brethren,
Peace be unto you. To the Church and
believing Christians everywhere and those that believe in the Bible as the Supreme
authority of God’s Laws. For the record and the sign post many people that
confess to be Christians are now during these trying times looking to man,
materialism and God knows what as additional authorities on how to get to
Heaven. Glory be to God our Father and to His Son our Savior Christ Jesus
blessed by the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 2: 1 "Now when Jesus was born in
Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men
from the east to Jerusalem,"
What is the origin of the word Christmas and the
alleged celebration of the birth of Christ? However due to various distortions
and the Roman influence in the Church much confusion still exists. Paul said do
not preach any other Gospel but what I have taught you through Jesus Christ.
Christmas is noted to be observed and celebrated as
the day of the birth of Christ Jesus. This day and time of the year is
celebrated by most Protestants and by Roman Catholics on December 25th
of each year. The first mention of the observance on December 25th
is the time of Constantine about A.D. 325. However for the record the birth of
Christ is not known. Furthermore if God wanted us to know the date of Christ’s
birth it would be clearly revealed in the Bible.
Meanwhile the word Christmas is a form of Christ +
Mass, meaning a mass of religious services in commemoration of the birth of
Christ. Many customs of pagan origin have become a part of Christmas.
Commercialization (where did it come from?) and economic priorities
(enterprises) during this season are running wild and gaining more and more
converts to materialism and not God.
So if Christmas is a man-made holiday what is a
man-made holiday? We do not know the date of the birth of Jesus. Thus when man
makes up a date it is man-made. For example we celebrate the New Year beginning
the day before and on the day of the New Year. These dates are established and
although designated by man there is a definite and confirmed date for these
holidays.
We can also draw parallels with the Thanksgiving
Holiday. This is a time that man designates but it did not derive from the
Bible nor is it sacred so man can determine a date and time for this
celebration. However what makes Christmas and or the designation of 25 December
as the birthday of Jesus different and off limits to man? Our Savior Christ
Jesus is the most important person ever born.
I remind you that Jesus is love. Do you love your
neighbor? The Word reveals the love of Jesus the Christ for all of humankind.
If you do not thirst and yearn for the Word you are not saved. Let me say that
again if you do not thirst and yearn for the Word you are not saved. Being
saved is an on-going process. You cannot make it to Peace and Paradise without
any Word. If you love Jesus you will study and the Word will inspire you to see
what Jesus would have you to see in order to be saved.
THE
MERCHANTS PAUSED, THE POOR CRIED
Many
days had passed as the greedy
waited
and got paid well before the
day
that no one knew came and went.
If
the rich claimed a recession where
went
the on-going depression and the
historic
poor?
John
who I knew was sent to the camp
of
poverty to observe and act as a watchman.
He
leaned on Jesus and saw Ezekiel.
However
he could see feel and touch the
poor.
No one that had not been to this
camp
actually knew what Po meant.
A
man that had never felt the lash or
the
sentiments of bondage hung his
head
down but he only conjured up,
Make
believe Blues. The Mississippi
Delta
Blues Masters felt the sting of the
whip
the loss of a job and low wages,
From
his time, the time of his father and
grand-father.
He came to realize that his
greatest
stimulus package was in Jesus.
He
knew he could bailout of this state of
poverty
with the Truth guided by the Holy
Spirit.
No
one in the big house or the plantation
house
had ever saw or felt his needs. It seems as
if
the sweet got sugar, the rich got richer,
And
poor of spirit got poorer than Po.
Meanwhile
the shopping mall might as
well
have been closed as the class under,
The
middle-class had barely heat from a
energy
package, old clothes and out-dated
food
from the food bank as his food stamps,
Lasted
only a little while. If not for his Bible
and
prayer he would have cried. But in faith
there
was hope as his blessings came in things
not
seen.
