WHY DID THE GREAT COMMISSION END? DID THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS OF THE MIRACULOUS END ALSO?

Part 59: Speaking To God and Not To Man

Greetings Brethren,

Peace be unto you. Let not your heart be troubled. For the Spirit of God be with you. Peace and Paradise to those who embrace the Spirit.

Peace and Love, Carl Patton a willing slave of Almighty God writing for the FreedomJournal 26 March 2006 in the year of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

In the name of Almighty God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth.

Beloved as the Apostle Paul continue to teach the people at Corinth about orderly worship service we also find important lessons for the church today. How are the gifts used in pubic worship?

I Corinthians 14: 27. “If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.” (Also see I Corinthians 12: 10, 14: 2, 5, and 13).

Here Paul teaches the Corinthians that when one speaks in an unknown tongue there must be a systematic interpretation by a second party. So what does this teach us regarding the false teachers today that claim to speak in an unknown spirit tongues. As we turn to I Thessalonians the 5th Division for a cross reference again Paul argues for the importance of prophesying.

I Thessalonians 5: 20-21. “Despise not prophesyings.”

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good”.

Prophesying in verse 20 refers to the speeches of the inspired prophets in the church during the time Paul rot4e this letter. Here other people are cautioned to not treat prophesying with indifferences.

Meanwhile the next verse has a powerful message for us today. Paul teaches the church to prove, to test, examine, and scrutinize a thing to see if it is genuine or not. There were various doctrines that were being offered then as they still are being presented by teachers of religion etc.  Therefore the disciples were taught to compare these doctrines, with what they had heard from the inspired men. Thus they were to put all things to a scripture test. (See this same meaning in I John 4: 1-2). For the record most people today refuse to submit doctrine to a scriptural test because they don’t want to read or study. Thus most disregard Truth and follow men, custom, tradition and temporal pleasures.

I Corinthians 14: 28-30. “But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let them speak to himself, and to God.”

“Let the prophet speak two or threes, and let the other judge.”

“If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.”

If no interpreter was present the speaker in tongues was to keep silent. The prophets were a preference as to gifted men. Meanwhile in verse 26 we that someone else may come into the assembly with something to say. So in verse 30 Paul reveals that when this happens the Lord might see fit to make a special revelation to another. Thus the first was to give way to one receiving the late revelation.
