WHY DID THE GREAT
COMMISSION END? DID THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS OF THE MIRACULOUS END ALSO?

Part 49: What Is Praying and Singing
In the Spirit?
Greetings Brethren,
Peace be unto you. Brethren the harvest that will be reaped by the
righteous is yesterday, now and later. However those that are lazy and filled
with the flesh know not what thus saith the Lord.
Peace and Love, Carl
Patton a willing slave of Almighty God writing for the FreedomJournal 20 March

Almighty God, Master of the universe, Ruler of the earth.
Beloved we are
blessed once more with Truth as Paul continues to reveal the distinction
between speaking in tongues (foreign languages) and speaking, praying and
singing in the Spirit.
I Corinthians 14: 15.
“What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the
understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the
understanding also.” (Also se Ephesians 1: 17-18; Philippians 1: 9-11 and
Collisions 1: 9).
My spirit as noted in
the previous verse refers to the spiritual gift possessed by the one praying or
singing. So again we note this tongue was not solely a foreign language but a
tongue of the spirit promoted and caused by the Holy Spirit.
Here Paul teaches the
people at Corinth how to use the gifts of the miraculous that had been given
them. These gifts of miracles allowed them to pray, sing and speak with words
that had not been revealed to others. Therefore this does not apply to
congregational singing today as no one has the gifts of miracles today as they
have ceased.
However we will
review several companion scriptures for further insight on this question.
Psalms 47: 6-7. “Sing
praises to God sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises).”
“For God is the king
of all the earth; sing ye praises with understanding. (See Zechariah 14: 9).
Paul expresses the
same idea here in our primary scripture (I Corinthians 14: 15) when he
instructed the Christians to sing with understanding or a manner in which the
hearers could understand what was being sung.
Brethren
there is much confusion and discussion
about the proper kind of music that should be played in the Church. Also there
are extremes to this question. Some have no music or very little and no
instruments. While others take on an assortment of instruments (ungodly musical
directors) and those not filled with the Spirit. Some even bring in the secular
Rap music and claim it is pleasing to God. What about the dancers? Is there a
place for these people?
Ephesians 5: 19.
“Speaking to yourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and
making melody in your heart to the Lord;”
Spiritual songs are
those moved by the Holy Spirit as noted in the New Testament. Any composition
that combined these qualities is pleasing. Paul further reveals that the instruments that the Christians should play is the heart.
Colossians 3: 16.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and
admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with
grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
The word of Christ is
recorded in the New Testament this knowledge is necessary to dwell on one’s
mind richly and in wisdom. Singing with grace indicates that the service is
prompted by grace and favor of God.
