RESPONDS TO THE DISTORTION OF SCRIPTURE ON ANOINTING
BY MR. BROWN
ANOINTING
SERIES: DISCERN TRUTH FROM LIES
PART 2: WHAT
IS THE ANOINTING IN 1 JOHN 2:27?
Greetings Brethren,
As we continue with this series on Anointing, we will note the
scripture used by Mr. Brown to support his theory that man has the Anointing of
God. He opens with the following statement which is a gross contradiction.
Because Mr. Brown evidently does not believe in the Bible nor does he strive to
learn the Truth.
We will note the scripture he uses to justify that he and his
Pastor are anointed by God. Following the scripture we will note our comments.
Dear Brethren,
Even though some of you don't believe in scripture, here are
some for you.
1 John 2:27 "But the anointing which ye have received of
him abideth in you...."
FreedomJournal: We will note the entire verse. Thus the only way
to note whether it relates to Anointing or not. We also suggest that the reader
study the entire chapter of 1 John 2. There is no way to grasp the full meaning
of what verse 27 is saying without a close
review of at least several verses noted in this chapter. Therefore we
will move from our primary verse (27) to verse 20 and
then to verse 26.
1 John 2:27. "But the anointing which ye have received of
him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same
anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is not lie, and even as
it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."
1 John 2:20. "But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and
ye know all things."
The word unction is used in a figurative sense and is taken from
the ancient custom of pouring oil on the heads of those who were to act in the
service of the Lord. However, in its Spiritual Sense unction refers to the
enlightening the Lord bestowed upon the Apostles. This enlightening allowed the
Apostles to reveal necessary information to the members of the body of Christ.
However, we do not have Apostles today. Mr. Brown and his Pastor are not
Apostles nor is
anybody that walks and crawls the earth.
Now let us look at verse 26 before we note the essences of our
primary verse that Mr. Brown claims to sanction all Christians anointing power
from God.
1 John 2:26. "These things have I written unto you
concerning them that seduce you."
The word seduce means to mislead or cause one to stray from the
truth. There were many deceivers in the world during the time in which John
wrote. It is for sure that many of these people still exist. Mr. Brown is one
of these people and the so is the Ministry that he follows. These False
Teachers were/are experts in false reasoning that the uninformed were/are easy
victims. Therefore, the Apostle John writes to warn the disciples.
Now for remarks concerning the primary scripture taken from 1
John 2:27.
Here the word anointing refers to the same meaning that is noted
in verse 20. This is the enlightenment given to the Apostles not to all
Christians. Now look at the phrase "Need not that any man should teach
you." This phrase means that no uninspired man should be depended upon to
teach the great story of Christ. The Apostles were inspired men of God. This
enlightenment came from the inspired teachings of Jesus Christ. Rod Parsley nor
has Mr. Brown been taught by Christ.
